Logging on to network drives

We have Windows XP PC’s tied into a network. We set the EnablePlainTextPassword to 1 in the registry so that it asks for a network login and password when the user starts up thier PC. Normally under Win 98 that is all you had to enter to access the network resources but in XP I also have to click on each network drive and enter a password in the prompt that pops up before I can access the files or printer there. Anyway to tie the first login to also login the network resources?
