Long link over twisted pair

I am working without a budget and I have to link 2 buildings using a buried 100 count telephone line cable. This will be temperary until fiber is purchased. I have no breaks in the line and the distance is 2000 ft. I have tried using a dial up senario but it is too slow for the database system. We are using Novell 4.11 as the NOS. Does anyone have any ideas?
