Love to be System Designer/Engineer

Actually, I have been trying to undergo some advance professional course that can enhance my ability to become a standard and an expert on designing machine. Up to this time I was considering by fully joining system engineer, I discovered that i still love to write software program to implement on the hardware level. Please kindly assist on what to do.
