M$ Audit….just marketing

by lordinfidel . Updated 24 years, 1 month ago

Like many of you, serveral months ago we went thru a Microsoft Audit. Where they send you a neat letter from their lawyers saying that you need to fill out this audit affidavit stating what OS’s/M$ products you are running and if you are short on anything.

So we like others, dillegintly sat down and inventoried everything and made sure our liscenses were current.

Well, it turns out it was a marketing ploy. I just received in the mail, a “Estimated Liscensing Options and Reccomendations”form saying what liscenses I “Should” buy to keep current with M$ OS’s (ie xp).

And guess what was on there? All of the numbers that I supplied to them. They claim it was from volume liscensing data, but that is BS. These numbers reflect the exact count that I sent into them.

I have no gumption to upgrade (if you can call it that) my systems to XP. It was however, awfully nice of them to tell me how much money I will waste if I wait to upgrade my current liscenes to XP.

Nice to know that they are looking out for our (you mean their) best interest.
