Mail merge into form

I have a form to which I merge information from an Excel spreadsheet. The form has lines in it, and the merge fields are placed at certain points on the line. The lines move and bounce around. I know the merge fields can be added without moving the lines, but I can’t remember how to do it. Can anyone help, please??? Thanks.
