I’d like to discuss the pros and cons, ins & outs of narrow-focus vs broad focus in developing personal professional skills. For example, do we put our time into learning and getting work in hot but narrow areas like Java development in e-commerce applications or developing as facilitators, trainers, project managers? In terms of being a free-lance consultant or a full-time employee, what strategies are working for others and how can we maximize our potential with the fixed amount of time we have available.
