Mapped drives drop out after 15 mins to 2 hours

Windows XP workstations lose their connections to network shares after some time. They cannot be mapped again without logging off and logging in again. The server with the shared directories is Windows 2000 server. Diabling autodisconnect did not help. I also have replaced the network switch. Network drives cannot be mapped again without logging off.
