Microsoft acquiring Great Plains

Microsoft is acquiring Great Plains and that heralds its entry into Enterprise Solutions area, which was the only area it had not touched.

What will be the impact on the Enterprise Solution Vendors?

Possible impact:
1. The soltions will be made much more integrated with the other Microsoft applications.

2. The ERP software cost may come down, as the Great Plains Software may come bundles alongwith SQL and Windows 2000/NT.

3. The ERP implementation cost will plummet as the software will become very user friendly (Hallmark of Microsoft!) and end clients may configure the software without hiring consulting firms and and spending huge sums on experts.
