microsoft media player 11

I recently had a client who when prompted
upgraded to media player 11. which in turn doesnot allow him to record music that will play in a car cd player his media player 10 would. I have tried to remove version 11 but it will only roll back which will not work either. it says finished however still runs version 11. has anyone else had this happen to them
