Midi files

When I log onto a url that has sound, I get a screen saying”Unable to start midi files”
I have gone into Microsoft help and reinstalled multimedia and media compression to no avail. I have installed several players such as Real Player and Micrsoft Media – also to no avail. CAN ANY ONE HELP? Please send help to carver@execpc.com
