minor errors in membership information

why is it that if you make typographical errors or accidentally hit the wrong stoke keys when rendering information you are penalized for your tech republic points when the company knows that the majority of the information you are sending to them matches your identifcation number? Also why do you have to start over by entering a new password if you’ve entered the same info. several times and they know it’s really you?
