Modem Configuration

I just installed Linux-Mandrake 7.1 on a machine, but it won’t recognize the 3com 33.6 internal ISA modem. I selected the right com port but when I try to connect, it gives a “Modem not Found” error unless I select set data flow to “none.” Then it displays “modem ready” and immediately after “initializing modem,” but the system just hangs in there forever. Any suggestions or extra configuration???
