Moving SQL 2000 to New Hardware

I am in the process of replacing all of the hard drives in our WinNT40/SQL2000 server. Once the new drives are installed, I plan to install a fresh copy of Windows 2000. Once the O/S is up, I plan to install SQL 2K, then restore my existing databases from tape backup.

My questions:

1. Is the best way to accomplish this task?

2. If upgrading in this manner, will this force me to do a complete Snapshot replication to all of my subscribers? Replication is currently controlled by a separate WinNT/SQL2k server.

3. Any other experiences/suggestions?
