MS-Exchange 5.5 Configuration

Can you gurus help me out. My problem is with my Exchange Server 5.5. The Server is a multi host computer, I set up the LAN and the VSAT network for ease mail download. Whenever I leave my VSAT cable on for a long period my Exchange Server will hang and client will no longer have access to their mailbox. Any solution will be highly appreciated.
