MS Exchange Server Planning

I am currently planning for an Exchange Server implementation for 850 employees. I would like to hear from some of you what the landmines are and some “good practices. One specific question, we don’t have SMS installed, I assuming that should do that first to gain control of the desktops before we move forward with Exchange…
