MS Word / table in footer keeps jumping from left to right

Has anyone experienced this problem ?

I often create a footer in which I insert a table with 3 columns for differen pieces of document information data {file ref ; version ; page#}

Sometimes this causes the whole footer to start to move about on it’s own from left to right….. quite rapidly.

Can’t find any other references ofr fixes for it anywhere. can anyone offer any insights ?
