My CD/DVD Burner/reader will Read CD’s But will NOT BURN cd’s or DVD’s.

I have a Compaq Presario V6000 Laptop, less than a year old. I can play CD’s and CD-ROM’s But I cannot burn a CD or a DVD. Also my it will not burn DVD’s. Why is this and is there an easy way to fix it? Please Help. Need info ASAP!
