NAS Performance

Hi all,

Just looking for some opinions…

I’m looking at modifying our network Infrastructure, traditionally our file and print storage has been provided by big Compaq ML 530 Xeon 800 with RAID…

However I am looking at seperating Storage and processing and using NAS for our file sharing.

A bit of background, between 100 – 200 users mostly MS Office files, some graphics etc…. all data files stored on the network.

The question being could we use say 3 or 4 IDE NAS boxes with lots of RAM ( spreading the load across machines ) or will the performance of the IDE be 2 slow and we need SCSI NAS ?
