Well, I am pretty much obsess about the fact that many employers and recruiters based their hiring on Bachelors or Certifications. I have plenty of experience in the IT field, I have not gone to college because I don’t want a billed on my back for 50,000 dollars or more. Education is important, but the ability to learn, trained yourself and implement is not based on a piece of paper.
I’ve been self-taugh on everything I know, I can pick any technical book learn it and implemented in a matter of hours, you tell me something, you only have to say it once, no I don’t have certification or a college degree. As a matter of fact most computer gurus AKA “hackers” don’t even have a HS diploma, but recruiters don’t keep that in mind.
All you need is an employee who is self-taugh, self-confident, self-motivated, eager to learn, a team player, with experience.
As I see it if you have a Certification and no experience, you don’t get a job, If you have experience but no certification you don’t get a job, If you have certifications and experience but are consider overqualified you don’t get a job, so what you need????
You complaint about shortage in IT staff and bring people from overseas, but yet don’t give the chance to people like myself. I noticed some people complaint about GRAMMAR, hello do you think a foreigner knows better?? What grammar has to do with IT anyway.. Yes it is important to certain extend, but even you probably make mistakes, nobody is perfect.
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!! Research,Read, get the tools and implement… BEST WAY TO LEARN
