need solutiom can’t burn , window xp wont recognize any type of blank cds

i had some research lately and didn’t get the result that i need so here is the problem:

i can’t burn any thing,i have the latest nero 7, the latest update of my windows xp prof,and windows media player 11.
hardware : sony crx320e
my cdwriter was working fine untill i windows degan to download updates, now i cannot burn.
i did my homework and found that my OS is simply not recognizing blank cds , or maybe it is a media problem???.
ps: it still can read dvd and cd .
i can do system restore , or put unupdated window xp on my d:\ drive and burn there but this is not a prof solution.

i am waiting to hear final solutions
