NETbios on LINUX

I am looking for a way to do some basic NETbios operations on a LINUX system. I have not found mention of any NETbios support for LINUX. I am looking for:
1. Information about NETbios support on LINUX
2. How to interface to the the network adaptors on LINUX (so I can send and recieve NETbios traffic myself – last ditch approach). In this case, the network adapter is also handling TCP/IP traffic, so I must “share” the adaptor.
