Network Browsing Problem

by jkc . Updated 25 years, 4 months ago

I have seen several discussions regarding problems with browsing an NT/2000 based network, but did not see any useful answers, so I’m starting a new one with a little more detail. Hopefully, someone can tell me what the problem is.

I am running an NT 4.0 PDC/BDC LAN with about 150 nodes. Clients range from NT Workstation, W2K, W98, and WinME. NTWS and W2K never have problems browsing the network, but some Win98 clients would lose the browsing capability all of a sudden. Opening the Network Neighborhood shows the Microsoft Network icon, but no computers will show under it. However, all available resources can be reached by using the network path. The protocol being used is TCP/IP only. It’s a bit of a mystery to me. Any help on the subject will be greatly appreciated.
