Network+: Your suggestions and advice?

I am a Physics major/Journalism minor (Senior). In order to qualify my hands-on experience with PCs and some networking, I obtained A+ certification and am wondering if it is worth the cost of adding on Network+, both in terms of knowledge as well as employable skills. I foresee these certifications as pluses to my resume when applying for a internship in photonics/optical networking. Where would someone who is Network+ certified fit among CCNAs, CNEs, Linux etc? Network admins/managers’ comments are especially welcome. Thank you for your time.
