Networking – key to a new role?

by kevinclark . Updated 23 years, 11 months ago

Having recently been made redundant, I am seeking new employ and finding traditional methods for job hunting are leading to ‘dead ends’ – lack
of response from letters, non-returned emails and phone calls, unhelpful agencies etc.

As such, I am now looking at the alternative routes into the ‘hidden job market’ and have identified networking as one which is key to all in a similar situation. I have found that between 30-60% of all roles (depending on which report you read) are filled by this method.

I am canvassing my peers, friends, ex-colleagues and individuals like yourselves for advise/information/sources and attempting to help others as much as myself – I am not intending to sell this or set up a business, just use it as an information portal to benefit all in a similar situation. I have set up a website www.kevinclark.supanet.com as intial point of contact for interested parties.

I would appreciate any advice, comments, (adverse or otherwise), contacts, websites, virtual forums information etc. and will collate the results of this feedback on my website in the event that it may prove useful for others.

Thank you.
