New Back up Scheme

by shanghai sam . Updated 24 years, 3 months ago

We have a Compaq DLT RAID Array with 4 DLT drives at our company?s main office. This would give us enough tape (ideally with 2 to 1 compression) to back up about 210 gigs of data. NOTE: (We don’t back up all servers only critical data servers.) Thejob itself is about 150 or so gigs and takes about 14 hours to run. At this point we have run out of tape and must insert a second set of tapes to finish the job. We could add a 5 drive but this would not solve the length of the back up runs. We can’t split the job up because the company wants a full back up every night. We have been considering a tape library but we wanted to solicit other opinions so we can be confident we haven?t forgot about anything.
Can any one suggest a practical solution?
