new to admin

I was just bounced into a role where I am building a network..I am having it constructed adn I am responsible for admin..it’s a win2000 network adn I am wondering about the best software to use to peform all the admin I will need. Setting accessibility..and dealing with users info..names passwords..basic admin projects. Any help is appreciated.
