New to IT

Hello
I am just beginning a career in IT. I am in the process of finishing up the Core Exams in the MCSE Win2k track. I have not had the opportunity to work specifically in the IT field and am wondering. Where does one go from here to gain experience. Do I go for Help Desk positions, do I try to get a job with a consulting firm or do I go to work for a computer repair company. I do plan on taking A+.
