NFS Server

I have a solaris server and a network attached server. I can mount the volumes of my NAS on my Solaris server as nfs mounts.
When i try to backup my data from solaris to NAS using tar command I get the display Nfs server not responding still tryingafter the backup is 20 to 30% percent over.

How do I resolve this problem?
