No changes in Outlook Public Inbox

I have Outlook set-up in an office using Exchange and Public folders.
Everyone sees incoming e-mail, but when one person reads and responds, it is still “Unread” on everyone elses machine.
You you have to write script to change everyone else’s view or is there a setting that takes care of this?
