No mouse or keboard to click with!!

installed a new G card. Nvidia 9600 9un installed old driver, fitted card then booted pc as per requirments.

at reboot (XP Sp2)found new hardware window pops as expected but PC has not enabled mouse or KB. Mouse can normally move at blue welcome window, even though it shows power via usb it will not move at that stage. have also connected a PS2 mouse and KB. but still not working.. so always frozen at found new hardware.. kb short cuts to windows mp and email still work but no std keys do??
