No Name Resolution

by ajbettencourt . Updated 21 years, 1 month ago

I have a small business network consisting of a single desktop PC, a Linksys wireless access point/router and several client laptops. About two weeks ago, it began to get increasingly difficult to print from any laptop to the printer connected to the desktop PC. Presently, I am unable to print, access shared resources, or view any other workgroup computers. I am able to ping all network components by IP address with no problems. I can map drives and share printers by IP address and everything works fine. I cannot, however, ping/share/map by the usual computer name and resource syntax. Since I want to avoid having to issue all static IPs, I am looking for assistance here. I was thinking that since the router acts as the DHCP server that might be a logical place to start. Any questions, comments, or better yet, HELP would be greatly appreciated. By the way, all systems are running XP Home.
