I’ve been looking at some network monitoring software in the last few weeks – although we are still thinking about everything we want to monitor and keep track of, we definitely want the following. Basically, the idea is that we want to know that there is a problem before the user knows that there is a problem.
Drive space trends
Event log management
Service and process monitoring
Up-time status
Patch and Critical updates management
Exchange statistics
SNMP traps
Email notification or further logging done on the monitoring server itself.
I can really only find about three products so far that seem to be decent. Unfortunately, 2 out of the three are mostly event log management and don’t do anything with processes, disk space, etc.
ELM Log Manager (www.tntsoftware.com)
GFI Security Log Manager (www.gfi.com)
The last one, MonitorMagic from (www.tools4ever.com) has a lot of GREAT features. Has anyone ever used any of these programs, and if not – what are you using?I don’t want to recommend a product if I can’t find anything to compare it to…
So how about it guys?
Thanks!
