NT/2000 Security Question

I installed an ACD application on both a NT4 and Win2000 PCs. I had to do this under the admin account (just like installing Office2000). Unlilke Office 2000 the typical user could not run the app without being given admin rights on the workstations AND on the doman, even though the apps is installed locally only and not run from the NT server. I’ve never encountered this before and am not comfortable with users having domain admin rights. Anyone know how to get around this; both on the workstation and server security ends?
