NT client logon scripts in Win2k

I am installing a new AD environment and would like to know the correct place for logon scripts for NT clients. I know that the 2000 clients look under the SYSVOL share and that NT clients look under the NETLOGON share, but where would they look if there is no NT server?
Also, is there a way to use GPOs to ensure that NT clients use the scripts as I am planning on using a GPO per OU for user Logon scripts
