NT Helpdesk Tools

by dzwinck . Updated 25 years, 8 months ago

I’d like to discover any practices, tools, scripts, etc. that are available for a Helpdesk to use in order to add/delete/change user accounts, add/remove computer accounts, etc. I do not want them using User Manager for Domains, Server Manager or any other of the Administrative Tools to step up security and accountability within our organization.

I’d also like to know any Helpdesk tools to help remotely support user profiles regarding configuring initial Outlook setting, etc. Basically anything you cannot pre-configure using a Domain Default User profile and would like to avoid a desk-side visit or manually pre-configure. This could include scripts a non-admin user could run.

Any other helpful scripts that can be run on a user logon script that verifies a global group is in the local administrators group, etc. Sort of constant verification that the workstation is configured properly. (I realize some (HKCU and HKLM only) can be taken care of through policies, but I’m new to thosetoo so any .adm files or recommended settings would be appreciated.)

Thank you and I hope this discussion continues to develop to help many others as well as myself.
