NT Laptop Networking with Win ME HELP!

I just can’t seem to get this to work both ways. I have an exsisting domain installed on the laptop for work it has DHCP and TCP/IP protocol. At first when I just changed the domain from the work domain to my MSHOME intranet I could see the home computer and pass files from the home system to the laptop but the home computer didn’t even get a whiff of the laptop.
Is there anything I can do that is simple and won’t blow up my work network connections?
