Nt Workstation, Server service

I am running an nt network along side my 2000 network as part as part of my mcse studies. I have a networked nt workstation, that boots up with a system error. That error is the server service. In event viewer, the caption reads that the service cannot start due to insufficient memory. Have tried manually starting the service, but have the same problem. Can I assign memory to a service by making an amendment to the registry. Any ideas would be very much appreciated Thank you
