NT4 won;t recognise ADAPTEC SCSI Drives

by mtnsqs . Updated 25 years, 10 months ago

I have an NT4 server which I want to rebuild from the ground up without changing hardware. THe machine has only got SCSI hard drives (no IDE) on it. I have what I believe is the SCIS driver diskette so I tell NT install to load the driver and it does, but then says it can’t see any hard drives and exits the setup. The SCSI adapters are Adaptec AIC-7895 according to the SCIS Bios boot message. The disk I have says Adaptec 7800 Family drivers and has a file on it called aic78x5.sys which appearsto be the right file. I looked on Adaptec’s page – they say anything that bios identifies as aic0-78×5 is OEM drivers for motherboard and they do not support them directly. I have no idea what the motherboard is – the machine is a few years old. Does nay one have any ideas???
