NTLDR is Missing…SATA

Okay I am trying to load Win XP Pro and keep getting NTLDR is missing. I have tried several different Windows disks,as well as different optical drives, and have even replaced the ribbon cable a few times. I went through bios and set it up to boot from cd-rom followed by HDD. The board is an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe. The only thing I can think of is I am missing a raid setting somewhere and can’t seem to find it anly help would be greatly appreciated.
