Odd behavior after installing Win2K

by wenger . Updated 23 years, 12 months ago

I work for an architectural firm running a Novell 5.0 network. The server has the latest patch (6a)applied. Everything was working well until I began upgrading workstations from Win98SE to Win2K Pro.

One station, after upgrading, shows an odd behavior in Windows Explorer. On the network drive, I can click on the plus sign next to a folder and it will open, but if I double-click on a yellow folder, the computer hangs and must be rebooted.

I tried reformating the workstation drive and doing a full install of Win2K, but with the same result. I tried replacing the network card, but it didn’t help. I have applied SP2 on the workstation, which is a Gateway P4.

I am out of ideas…anyone have any suggestions?
