offline problem

I am new to the networking field, and the network where I work constantly kicks people offline when they are working on documents from a particular network drive. As an experiment, I reinstalled an NTFS OS under fat,and the problem went away. but it is still a serious problem on the network. The experiment i did because i thought it had to do with ntfs permissions, but i think maybe that network drive is corrupt.I am a beginner, so any opinion from someone more knowledgable than myself, please!
