Old Server. New Server. Exchange also

Ok, I got a Windows 2000 Server that pretty much controls everything and anything including exchange 2000. Just bought a new server with Windows 2003 installed on it.

I know i must run forest/domain prep on the 2000 server from the 2003 CD, but will this screw up exchange 2000? I have read many things that exchange 2000 will not work with 2003, but it will still reside on the 2000 machine.

So will exchange 2000 not work in a 2003 “domain”, or will it not work on a 2003 “machine”?
