On Line learning/Authoring Tools

Hello Everyone,
I’m new to my company and new to the development of online learning. I’m extremely interested in gathering suggestions to tools to be successfull in this endeavor.

Does anyone have any insight to where I can go for training in authoring tools such as Articulate and Captivate in the New York City area? I’m also investigating LMS’s. If you are currently using a LMS, please share your likes/dislikes with it, the types of subject matter you are using the LMS for and what you would recommend.
