Open With window pop ups

Hi every time I open any programs like Firefox, Excel, Word, etc the OPEN WITH window pops up, so annoying. I am using WinXP OS..Please anyone can help. I suspect maybe virus the cause but I can not open my anti-virus program either since its not listed on Open with list.
