Operating Systems – is Groove the next ?

when PCs first came out the goal was to see how much / how fast we could do on one machine. Today the main role of the PC is as a means of sharing information with other users.

It is why i have always believed that collaborative products / architectures like Groove Virtual Office are going to be the future of OS’s – much of Groove is already creeping in to Vista, and Mesh, which is another contender for an OS, is actually Groove in the Cloud.

Since collaboration is what it is all about these daya any future OS must provide for this as a very basic function of the OS, rather than as an application that sits on top of the OS.
