Oracle and Multimedia

I have been using oracl 8 as a data storage media but primarily for character data. I know that there are datatype like BLOB and BFILE but how can i really use them effectively i would like to know more about it. How can i extend my server’s capacity to store images and movies as part of tables and database objects.
