Orion neither navigator nor hunter

At work, we have a database called Orion. This may well be a unique commissioned program. It is data of individuals and health/medical/employment/educational/personal information. We also use Excel and Word. There seems to be no current use of mailmerge, or even intelligent merge between Orion (our client information store) and Word.
Is it possible to merge data in Orion and data in Excel and do mailmerge with Word?
