Outlook 2000 not closing?

Hey does anyone have an idea as to why Outlook 2000 hangs on some networks upon closing. When my users are closing out of it it just comes up with, “Please wait while Microsoft Outlook exits” & never goes away. Generally this is attributed to Add Ins, however that is not the case on this issue. Someone please advise, your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
