Outlook 2000 won’t hang up automatically

Despite having the option selected to hang up after sending and receiving mail, Outlook 2000 remains connected after new mail has been downloaded/mial has been sent. However, Outlook Express DOES hang up (using exactly the same connection). What is wrong with Outlook 2000?
