Outlook 2003 character limit to the “notes” in contacts…

Hello one and all,
It seems that I cannot enter any more notes or links or whatever in the notes in the Contacts. It does not accept my key strokes after a certain amount of info. I have had to create a second entry (appended with a 1) so that I can continue entering data on these contacts.

It there a fix available or is there a character limit in this field?
